Another year past

Woohoo! It's official. The 2008-2009 school year has ended! Today was an emotional day as we sent off our students. We had a very nice promotion ceremony with the deputy mayor as our guest speaker. He wasn't too used to speaking to elementary students and seemed to get a little off track at times, but overall, not a bad speaker. We also had a police officer from the local department come and speak to the kids about setting goals, making right choices, and avoiding drugs and alcohol. He did a much better job and was a great choice to represent the police department.

And the tears flowed! Some from teachers, but more from the students. They cried and cried about leaving their elementary school. They cried about receiving awards. They cried while singing the closing song (Proud to be an American by Lee Greenwood). Another year has past. I'm a year older, a year smarter, and looking forward to a great summer vacation. Just think, in another two months I'll be back, doing the same thing all over again.
